Job Title: Service Superintendent – Madison, WI

Job Summary: The Service Superintendent is responsible for running day-to-day operations on a job site and for controlling the short-term schedule. The Superintendent also plays a key role in important quality control and subcontractor coordination responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive all pertinent project information from Project Manager.

  • Become familiar with plans, specifications, site, local codes, local officials, and inspection procedures.

  • Coordinate appropriate staff per job, and when necessary and in coordination with Human Resources, hire additional staff.

  • Attend preconstruction meetings.

  • Provide guidance on activities including set-up, work in-place, and project closeout/demobilization.

  • In coordination with the department head and with Human Resources, monitor and follow up on field staff performance, bringing in Human Resources when necessary for performance issues.

  • Participate in site orientation training.

  • Review and approve craft worker certifications and training for specialty craft roles.

  • Monitor and address issues within weekly labor reports

  • Set up field office (as necessary), communications and temporary services as required.

  • Assist Project Manager in developing the project schedule.

  • Purchase supplies and equipment as needed for jobs.

  • Schedule all employees, subcontractors and deliveries as needed to not adversely impact the project schedule.

  • Manage quality control of self-performance and subcontractors' work.

  • Schedule and attend all required inspections.

  • Complete and submit all paperwork as required.

  • Establish and maintain benchmarks and reference points for ongoing layout of work.

  • Work with job site representative and/or the subcontractors to resolve any conflicts that may arise and communicate any such conflicts immediately to Project Manager.

  • In coordination with the Safety Director, communicate, implement, and enforce company safety policy as it pertains to assigned project.

  • Support Safety Director with site safety audits.

  • Coordinate with equipment facility and outside equipment providers for project equipment, i.e., cranes, trailers, trucks, etc.

  • Attend job meetings and/or any other meetings as may be required for the successful and timely completion of the current project.

  • Attend walk through at job completion.

  • Ensure all tools from the job site are accounted for.

  • In coordination with the Safety Director, facilitate weekly safety meetings at the job site.

  • Collect, review and submit all field staff timecards weekly.

  • Close out field office and project as necessary.

  • Participates in department meetings as requested.

  • Performs additional assignments as requested and maintains a teamwork attitude.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years construction supervision experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a union environment

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Passed the State Union Apprenticeship program.

  • Ability to read and understand technical specifications, construction plans,

  • Broad understanding of plumbing and medical gas construction systems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to handle confidential information.

  • Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks.
