Job Title: SIC Civil Superintendent (RAL CD)
Job Summary: Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks Civil Superintendent to work out of our Raleigh, NC office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Able to read blueprints, plans, and shop drawings.
Oversees the daily activities at work site, including scheduling of workers, delivery of equipment and materials, and progress reporting.
Able to develop relationships with key internal/external members and identify emerging needs.
Resolves and communicate any necessary changes with the management team.
Promote job site safety, encourages safe work practices, and rectify job site hazards immediately.
Provide senior leadership for environmental, safety, health, injury/accident and fire prevention on the project.
Ensure the applicable design document for civil commodities such as concrete, steel, aggregates, soils, and forming materials is provided to the craft to complete work, and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
Responsible for implementing corporate project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned work activities or applicable project specific policies and procedures.
Work closely with other disciplines and coordinate efforts and activities to meet the overall project requirements
Must have experience with construction in the areas of earthwork, formwork, rebar, anchor bolts, embeds, concrete, grout, drainage, structural steel, underground piping/utilities.
Monitor equipment & tool usage on the site to be sure all cost is within project budget.
Assist in monitoring construction work schedules including look ahead schedules.
Assist in coordinating subcontractors, arrange and attend subcontractor coordination meetings.
Track productivity to ensure daily goals are met or exceeded.
Coordinate activities of on-site personnel with subcontractor personnel to minimize interference of activities.
Direct all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to project plans and specifications.
Identify problems with the construction schedule and communicate solutions to the Project Manager.
Ensure the job site remains safe, clean, and orderly.
Ability to work under pressure to meet internal and client project deadlines without compromising quality.
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous experience as a concrete superintendent, civil superintendent, or in a similar role.
Knowledge of quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites.
In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes.
Proficiency in computers and technologies.
Organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to lead and inspire.
Construction Experience: 5 years (Preferred)
Superintendent/Foreman: 3 years (Preferred)
Concrete: 5 years (Preferred)
Physical Requirements/Job Site Requirements:
Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces.
Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.
